Map #7


There are four parts to include on Map #7:

Part #1: Mark the locations of:

  • land claimed by the Waco, Comanche, and Kiowa tribes (during the time of Texas as an independent republic)
  • Colorado River
  • Edwards Plateau
  • Neches River
  • Guadalupe River
  • Columbia (original capital)
  • Austin
  • the Cordova Rebellion
  • Baylor University
  • the Council House Fight
  • the Buffalo Bayou settlement, Houston
  • Waco
  • Battle of Salado Creek
  • Shelbyville
  • shade the area of Medina Country (German immigration)
  • Liberty (on the Trinity River)
  • Brazoria County (sugar production)

 

 

Part #2: On the back of your map, answer:

  • Do you think Houston or Lamar was a better (think in terms of effectiveness) president and why?

  • What was the purpose of Lamar ensuing the building of schools and advocating for setting public land aside for future schools?

  • Create a conversation (at least 14 exchanges total) you think Houston, Lamar, the Cherokee Chief Bowles, and one of each of their advisors, could have had to avoid the Cherokee war. Be creative yet historically plausible in your answer.

 

Part #3: On the back of your map, answer:

  • What was the purpose of Lamar ensuing the building of schools and advocating for setting public land aside for future schools?

 

Part #4: On the back of your map:

  • Create a conversation (at least 14 exchanges total) you think Houston, Lamar, the Cherokee Chief Bowles, and one of each of their advisors, could have had to avoid the Cherokee war. Be creative yet historically plausible in your answer.
